Choose Your Spot
This is one of the most important steps when setting up a reading nook. Think about a spot in your home where you already feel comfortable. It can be a corner of your room, living room, a bay window, or anywhere that gives you a sense of safety and comfort. This is your starting point.
Think About Seating
Once you’ve selected your spot, now it’s time to think about comfort and coziness. If you have a bay window, it’s the perfect place, as its already got a built-in seating spot. If you have chosen another corner, you can set up comfortable pillows or a small mattress or pad. If you prefer an armchair or even a floating seat, that also works great as well.
Make It Yours
If you want, you can set up a small tent or yurt to set it apart from the rest of the space. You’ll also need to think about whether you want to include storage around your nook. This can hold books, blankets, and anything else that will make your reading nook super cozy. You can use bookshelves, storage trunks, decorative baskets, or anything else that suits your personality and decor style. The most important thing is to create a space that feels like a safe getaway where you can truly get lost in the world of your book.
Light It Up
Consider your lighting options, both for practical purposes as well as decorative. You can include a lamp so that you always have enough light and won’t strain your eyes. If you have the right space for it, you can set up a permanent fixture, but if not there are also portable lamps you can use as well. To create a cozy ambiance, you can set up little fairy lights that will add a warm glow as you read.
Fill It Up With Books
Now comes the fun part — adding all of the books in your nook to make it complete. If you have limited space, you can include your favorite books that you always find yourself reaching back to, or you can have a rotation of books set up here. You can add the books that you want to read in the future, and of course feel free to add little personal touches and knick knacks to really make this space feel like your own.
