To make your very own garland, you only need three things: scissors, tissue paper (choose whatever colors you love!) and decorative string or twine. That’s it! Let’s get started.
Begin by folding the tissue paper in half, and then fold each side in half once again. You should now have two piece that both have a fold. Cut a fringe down the whole length of the paper. leaving an inch of tissue paper uncut across the top of the paper (which will be the folded side). Try your best to make the strips even and thick so that they will not rip easily.
Next, unfold and lay out the tissue paper on a flat surface. The uncut gap should be in the middle with fringes on either side.
Gently roll the uncut gap into a tube0like shape. Once the whole thing is rolled up, fold the tube in half and twist it at the top. Secure the whole thing with a piece of string, which will also add a nice decorative touch.
Repeat as necessary until you have many tassels. Once you have finished, gather your tassels and add them all onto your decorative string. Adjust them and spread them out as you see fit.
Tip: since you’ll be able to see the string that you’re using on the tassels and garland, try to pick a pretty twine. Baker’s twine works really well with this!
